Cheap and Chic - Simple ways to make your home look styled and so you

I had to share these really cute and summery ideas with y'all.

You can create nice displays with mix n' match flea market or basement finds.

A large mirror can act as a light source, and looks more casual when propped on the floor. Flea markets are the way to go if you don't have a large mirror. I found one for $20 once, all I did was paint the green frame white and it looks great now!

Ad flavor to your space by accessorizing to your heart's content. Mixing patterns and textures is fine as long as they color coordinate.

This is a cool idea I've seen a lot, but my books aren't really that colorful - but you can try arranging them by color and turn your bookcase into art.

Single blooms can add more interest than a formal bouquet, in my opinion.

Memorabilia and collections are best displayed all together, like in this salon style wall.

Install wainscoting along the entirety of one wall for a custom headboard look.

Painting a stair runner and varnishing it is easier to clean than carpet - plus you have freedom to do whatever you want! Masking tape is your friend here.

Lots of great ideas for making the most of your space

Awhile back I posted some photos for making the most of small kitchens, and now I'm continuing that with some more general inspiration to use throughout the house. Lots of good ideas here- both big projects and little projects!

Not that many of us have extra closet space, but if you're lucky enough to have some, take off the doors and turn it into a small home office.

A cabinet nightstand will give you more storage opportunities than a table.

Use the inside of doors to store materials, I put spice racks on the inside of my cupboard doors and they're super handy.

Radiators can be huge space-wasters, install a shelf for instant surface space. I have one in my bedroom, and I couldn't be without it!

These benches have been stacked to make shelves, and they can also serve for extra seating or a coffee table in a pinch.

Even odd nooks are put to good use.

If you have major carpentry skills - or access to them, this Manhattan apartment dweller created a swiveling tv stand, which can totally flip around depending on if he/she is in the bedroom or the next room.

If you have weird angled walls (like many old apartments), find small furniture and make use of the space

Make your rooms multi-task. Keep your bookshelves for storage, and install a sliding curtain when in need of a less cluttered feel.

Update your stairs

Stairs tend to get neglected on the design front. What you do with your stairs can make a huge impact though, and if your home feels like it's missing a final touch to tie everything together--you might want to look to the stairs and re-access!

Painting your banister an eye-popping color is an easy way to bring your staircase to life.

Tile, paint, or stencil your risers for a big impact, without breaking a sweat.

Use shelf or rod brackets under the railing for a unique look.

Create a landing area at the top of the stairs, with an open foyer this ads the most interest.
