It's funny how you find things on the internet! I discovered Si Scott's work while looking for a laptop case. Back in the days when I used to actually draw - one of my favorite mediums was pen and ink, and I love organic forms, so I was instantly attracted. Do you have a favorite?

Some inspiring thoughts by Paul Smith

I don't know much about fashion designer Paul Smith - but I ran across an interview of him on 1stdibs and ended up printing out some of his "words of wisdom," which are now pinned up on my cork board. I hope they are of value to you, as well.

1. Start something new.

2. Take pleasure seriously.

3. Work is not about shorter or longer hours, it's about every hour.

4. You can't do it without doing it.
-every time I feel unmotivated or cringe at the grunt work this gets me through

5. Make room to break the rules.

6. Logic is predictable.

7. Look at the world through the eyes of someone you respect, admire, and love.

Manners Maketh the Man

"When it comes down to it, I have absolutely no problem with the way anyone dresses at all. Who the hell cares? Being 'well dressed' is as much about a person's behavior, manners, and posture as it is about what they're wearing. Yes, a tailored suit and handmade shoes are beautiful things, but the truly well dressed combine them with other qualities - courtesy, good manners, and knowing when to talk and when to listen"

I was instantly attracted to the clean palette and crisp lines of the San Francisco Apartment. Black and white is so classic, and leaves room for fun accents in whatever color your heart desires.

Some decorating ideas to inspire your long weekend

Well, folks, I've spent this morning lovingly scanning, cropping, and trying to get rid of the horrid stripes my scanner leaves on my images - guess you get what you pay for. Anyway, we have a long weekend, and, if on the off-chance you'll be indoors, I hope I leave you with some yummy ideas to incorporate into your decor. Happy weekend!

A guide to creating comfortable, sylish living spaces


The stool above was a stuffy, dark, upholstered piece. It was repainted white and the upholstery was replaced with a glass top.

I've never seen the idea of little pictures hung in a grid under one larger picture - but I like it!

Hanging a picture on a bookshelf is an all-time fav. look of mine!


If you have/find some pretty brackets, you could use this idea and safe some floor space by creating a "nightshelf," as opposed to a nightstand.

Pretty, Perfect Bathrooms

Ahhh...a clean and organized bathroom makes so much difference. I can never feel really clean unless my bathroom is nice and clean. These baths, however, go above clean by also looking lovely. Which is your favorite?

Country conversions

pretty pretty pretty! It's hump day and I needed a little lift to help me over. These are mostly lofts and/or converted barns. So peaceful.

I adore this bedroom - what a gorgeous ceiling! I also never realized how pretty yellow bedding can be. Anybody have yellow bedding?

I don't usually comment on fashion, but I was so surprised by what I saw in the latest issue of L.L. Bean Women that I had to share. What do you think of their recent efforts to attract younger customers?
