A 600 sq. ft. California Cabin Retreat

Stocked with finds from budget go-to's like west elm and ikea, this rustic retreat was made beautiful on a modest budget. Even the cabin (it's a rental) was found on craigslist! 

The cabin was built in the 1970's, but they've managed to make the wool paneling look fresh.

The chairs are by West Elm.  I have been scouring Craigslist for a similar table - I love it!

LOVE the chevron poufs - they add a punch of mod to the space.

I could read on this couch all afternoon.

Any retreat needs a well stocked bar. I am a coffee girl above a cocktail girl...so I might have a fancy coffee bar instead.

Lovely kitchens that will inspire you

Once the weather gets chilly we spend even more time in the kitchen baking up warm goodies. So I thought it'd be appropriate to post some kitchens which get me excited for the upcoming cooking/baking season - even though I primarily just eat the food - and someone else makes it. Happy Friday! I think this space out of House Beautiful is a refreshing change of pace in that it keeps with a lot of the Scandinavian characteristics we all know and love, but diverges from everything being based in white and takes on a warmer, more country feel. What do you think?

I'm back on the farm in Maryland and we're expecting 18-24" of snow today and tomorrow! I was super indulgent today after all my traveling and slept till noon. (Naughty, I know) I'm a little late today but I want to send you into the weekend with a little eye candy. If you're due for snow, hunker down with some homemade cookies and cocoa. If you're not due for snow, enjoy you're weekend anyway!

I'm starting to like darker interiors, and I love this darker, coastal style.

Elegant city houses - with a country twist

Hi all! Sorry I've been MIA - I was packing to spend this next month visiting my parents - and then there was the whole moving and unpacking process - which I"d rather not think about. Well, now that I'm here in the country - listening to the crickets and birds - mixed in with the clickity clack of my keyboard - I thought a little reminder of civilization was in order.




The above is a one bedroom, one bath loft in Manhattan's NoHo neighborhood - "NoHo" meaning "North of Houston" - a name created by the real estate industry to give an area a trendy age and thus - up the edge on the prices.
